How the Storm-Damage Insurance Restoration Process Works

A contractor-focused overview of inspections, documentation, insurance review, restoration scope and roof replacement in DFW.

Roof installation underway during a DFW storm restoration project
Quick answer

A typical storm-restoration process moves from inspection and documentation to the homeowner's carrier review, construction-scope reconciliation, product selection, installation and final paperwork. The insurance company decides coverage; REMCO documents construction conditions and completes the approved restoration work.

Inspection and documentation

The process begins with an evaluation of the roof and other accessible exterior conditions. Photographs, measurements and observed damage create a factual record the homeowner can use when deciding whether to contact the carrier.

Carrier review

The homeowner reports the loss and the carrier may assign an adjuster. Coverage, deductibles, depreciation and claim decisions belong to the policyholder and insurance company—not the contractor.

Construction-scope review

REMCO compares the proposed construction scope with observable conditions and the roof system required for a complete installation. When something appears missing or inconsistent, we can provide construction documentation for the homeowner and carrier to review.

Selections and scheduling

  • Confirm the selected shingle, metal or stone-coated steel system
  • Review colors, ventilation, flashing and accessory components
  • Plan property protection and material delivery
  • Confirm the construction schedule and communication plan

Installation and closeout

The crew protects the property, removes materials as required, addresses approved deck conditions, installs the complete roof system and performs cleanup. Final documents should be retained with product and workmanship warranty information.
